The first setters of todays Czech Republic were Celtic tribes of the
"Boier". Boier is also the origin for the term of the Czech province
"Bohemia".
At the beginning of the first century the people of the Marcomanni
arrived and the culture of the Celtics disappeared. Five centuries
later the Slavic Czech came, and formed the character of todays Czech
Republic until today.
Czech Republics provinces were part of the Austrian Empire from 1526 to
1918, from 1939 to 1945 part of the German Empire, and from 1945 to
1989 under the control of the Communist Soviet Union. Since 2004 the
country is part of the European Union.
