Cesky Krumlov
Cesky Krumlov is a little town with 14.000 inhabitants in the southern part of Czech Republic.
The castle of Cesky Krumlov was built in Gothic style in 1250. Already
in 1910 the town counted 8.662 inhanitants, therefrom 7.367 German
speaking and 1.295 Czech speaking.
Already in former time the town of Cesky Krumlov was known as the "pearl of the Bohemian forest".
In 1911 the Austrian painter Egon Schiele moved to Cesky Krumlov,
beacause Krumlov was the birth place of his mother. By its wild affairs
with women and nude paitings of young girls, he made the citizens of
Krumlov very upset. Today the citizens think different about the
painter. There is a Schiele museum in the centre of the town which
should praise his artistic works.
Cesky Krumlov consits of following districts: Domoradice, Horni Brana,
Latran, Nadrazni Predmesti, Nove Dobrkovice, Nove Spoli, Plesivec,
Slupenec, Vnitrni Mesto and Vysny.
